Anchorage Meeting Rooms

Two meeting rooms are available free of charge at the Anchorage offices of the Alaska State Library to government agencies and K-20 education and library-related organizations. Limited to five days every four weeks. The meeting rooms are not available for commercial purposes. People should not be charged for attending events in the meeting rooms.

Location

The Alaska State Library in Anchorage is located at 344 West Third Avenue, Suite 125. The State Library is located in the Ship Creek Center and is in the same building as the Downtown Station Post Office.

The Alaska State Library in Anchorage is within easy walking distance of downtown hotels. The two closest hotels are the Hilton Anchorage on West Third Avenue and the Howard Johnson on West Fourth Avenue. These hotels are within a block of the Alaska State Library.

Room Information

The Williwaw Room seats 20 people and the Chinook Room seats 12 people comfortably at tables. Additional seating along the wall is available in both rooms. The rooms are equipped with large tables that can be moved for flexible seating arrangements. Small side tables are available for refreshments or handouts.

Equipment

Each room has a projector screen, wireless internet connection, a television with a videocassette player on a media cart, easels for flip charts, and teleconferencing equipment. A computer projector and an overhead projector are also available upon request. The Alaska State Library does not supply flip charts. Groups that book the meeting rooms should bring their own flip charts. Photocopies cost 10 cents per page.

Refreshments

A coffee urn, a coffee maker, and thermos to store hot water are available upon request. Groups that book the meeting rooms may bring refreshments or may contact local restaurants to cater their event. The Alaska State Library does not supply coffee, tea, condiments, or cups, napkins, and other supplies.

Parking

The Alaska State Library faces a parking lot with both short-term metered parking spaces and numbered spaces that can be paid for by the hour or the day. The State Library has three free handicapped spaces available. Three free spaces for handicapped drivers are available. Drivers must ask State Library staff for parking passes for these handicapped spaces. Parking is strictly enforced.

To Schedule A Room

Meeting rooms are available Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. The rooms are not available on weekends and state holidays. Simply print out the Meeting Room Request Form, fill it out, and fax it to 907-269-6580 or send a scanned copy to aslanc@alaska.gov. We respond to every request form we receive by confirming the request or informing the group that the requested date has already been booked.
