About this service
For employees and residents of the State of Alaska only. The Alaska State Library is happy to provide an extensive list of online classes in foreign languages and English for speakers of other languages (ESL) online for State of Alaska employees.
To access the classes, sign up for a free account:
- Go to the Mango Languages start page from a computer on the State of Alaska network or from another computer in Alaska with internet access.
- Create a profile using either your work or personal email address and a password that you choose. At this point, DO NOT LOG IN using the option on the left.
- Check your email for a confirmation email and follow the instructions there. If you don’t find a confirmation email at the email address you provided when you created your profile within about an hour, check to see if your spamcatcher snagged it. If you used your work email, check first in your Outlook Junk E-mail. If it’s not there, check Postini:
- Go to the state employee spam catching page.
- When prompted, enter your work email username and password.
- Look for an email from help@mangolanguages.com, with [Mango for Libraries] in the subject, and check the box next to it.
- Click on the Deliver To Your Inbox button.
- If you don’t receive the email within the next hour or so, check with your own IT staff for assistance.
- Then, return to use the system from any computer with access to the internet by returning to the Mango Languages start page and logging in using the option on the left and the email address and password you just created.
- Once you log in, click on Start Learning… or Courses to see the languages available and to start learning the language of your choice, or explore your other options by following other links.
