Public Librarians' Monthly Chat
On the second Thursday of each month staff from Library Development will host an informal conversation with public librarians throughout Alaska. These monthly hour-long chats are opportunities for librarians to share information, build relationships and offer support to one another.
Web chats are presented using WebEx. If you haven't joined us for a chat before, please join a WebEx Test meeting to make sure your computer can handle WebEx. Programs with audio will require headphones or speakers connected to your computer.
Date: Thursday, October 19, 11 a.m.
Topic: Developing Library Conduct Policies: As librarians we want the library to be a welcoming, safe and comfortable place for everyone to enjoy. Unfortunately, some patron's behaviors can be annoying to others or downright dangerous. During this month's chat we will look at some conduct policy examples, discuss guidelines for developing a library conduct policy and steps to inform your staff and the public about the new polices.
Our guest presenter this month is Andrew Murphy, Library Director of the Sitka Public Library who has conducted research on the language of policies.
Did you miss our last chat? We've saved them for you on our Archived Webinars for Librarians page.
