Alaska Sportsman/Alaska Magazine: "End of the Trail" obituaries

"End of the Trail" is a column in Alaska Sportsman/Alaska magazine noting deaths of prominent/important Alaskans. The header of the column is: "Notices in this column, because of space, are limited to names of those who have achieved pioneer status through many years in the North, or who are otherwise of unquestioned importance in the daily scene. We cannot print all death notices, and answering submissions of death notices is likewise impossible. In calling deaths to our attention, please give name, place of death, age, any unusual or interesting aspects of the person’s life and immediate next of kin surviving. Other details are not required."

The column began in the September 1960 issue of Alaska Sportsman, and continues today. This index was created by staff at the Alaska State Library Historical Collections, and is current through May 2016. Staff will update it annually in January. It currently contains 15,752 entries. Any corrections should be sent to asl.historical@alaska.gov
